How to check if an image was made with Adobe Firefly
- Adobe co-founded the Content Credentials standard and attaches a C2PA manifest to Firefly images and Generative Fill edits.
- Edited photos may carry the IPTC value compositeWithTrainedAlgorithmicMedia, which we report as "edited with generative AI".
Visual signs of Adobe Firefly content
Generative Fill edits often show softer texture or mismatched grain in the filled area compared with the rest of the photo.
Visual clues are never conclusive on their own. Combine them with a metadata check and a reverse image search. See our full guide: how to tell if an image is AI-generated.
Adobe Firefly detector FAQ
Can I tell if Photoshop Generative Fill was used?
If Content Credentials were kept on export, yes. The result will say the image was edited with generative AI.
